PCB: Pakistan Cricket Board has suspended Umar Akmal with immediate effect today. He cannot participate in any cricket-related activity until the PCB’s investigation into the anti-corruption unit.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has suspended batsman Umar Akmal (Umar Akmal) with immediate effect until an anti-corruption investigation is completed. A statement issued by the PCB said,
The Pakistan Cricket Board has suspended Umar Akmal with immediate effect today. He cannot participate in any cricket related activity till the completion of PCB’s investigation of the anti-corruption unit. It said, ‘The case is under investigation.
Pakistan Cricket Board Omar Akmal Allowed to play Pakistan Super League 2020
PCB will not give any further statements on this matter. The board also did not reveal how Akmal violated the code of conduct. Significantly, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) Quetta Gladiators have been allowed to apply for the option of Omar Akmal in the 2020 season.
Akmal has played 16 Tests, 121 ODIs and 84 T20 matches for Pakistan. His image is in the form of a very talented but undisciplined player. Omar has been caught in many controversies due to his antics in the recent past.
Omar, the younger brother of Pakistan wicket-keeper batsman Kamran Akmal, has scored 1003 in 16 Tests, 3194 in 121 ODIs and 1690 runs in 84 T20I matches. One hundred in Test cricket and two in ODIs are registered in his name.
Earlier this month, Omar Akmal’s name came up in controversies when a fitness test with other players at the Pakistan Cricket Board National Academy. Omar, who was struggling to make a place in the Pakistan team, had failed in this fitness test. Later, in anger, he removed his clothes in front of the fitness trainer. After taking off clothes, he asked the fitness trainer angrily – ‘Where is the fat?
In the year 2017, Pakistan Cricket Board imposed a fine of one million rupees on Omar Akmal with a ban of three matches for the violation of the central contract.
