The Kings XI Punjab is a Franchise cricket team. It is also called KIXP. It is based on Mohali, Punjab that plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL). It is founded in 2008. The Franchise is mutually owned by Mohit Burman, Ness Wadia, Preity Zinta, and Karan Paul. The KXIP plays its home matches at the PCA Stadium, Mohali. They have been playing some of their home games at either Dharmshala or Indore in the IPL 2010.
The catchment areas of the KXIP are Jammu, Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab and Haryana evident from the letter sequence “KJHPH” in the banner of the teams’ loge. When they topped the League table and finished runners-up from the 2014 season. The KXIP made only one playoff appearance in 12 seasons.
Background:
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) constructed the cricket tournament in Indian Premier League based on the T20 format of the game, In 2007. In the eight cities, Franchise was made available in an auction held in Mumbai on 20 February 2008. The team elected Punjab was bought by the Dabur group’s Mohit Burman (46%), Preity Zinta (23%), The Wadia Group’s mess Wadia (23%) and Saptarshi Dey, of the Dey and Dey group. The group rewards a total of $76 million to the Franchise.
Removal from the IPL and return: In 2010, the controversy surrounding the BCCI and Lalit Modi. On 10 October 2010, the Indian Premier League declared that it had terminated the franchise contracts of Kings XI Punjab and the Rajasthan Royals. In the IPL, the teams declared that they would take legal action to remain.
In the beginning, the team tried to negotiate a solution with the League, but when one would not be reached they determined to file a case in Mumbai High Court accusing the Indian Premier League of getting rid of the two teams so that when the bidding process started for the 2012 IPL season, the contract would be given to great lucrative bidder.
Kings XI Punjab was reinstated with the Incriminate of the high court.
Seasons:
IPL Season 2008: The tournament of 2008 got off to a slow start for the Kings XI Punjab, with the team losing their first two games. Kumar Sangakkara helped them by 94 runs to win the third game. Brett Lee and Simon Katich were committed to touring the West Indies with Australia. Connected by their pragmatic line-up and effective top order, the team won of its next matches and in the semi-final clinching a birth, where their run in the tournament came to an end with a comprehensive nine-wicket loss to the Chennai Super Kings.

IPL Season 2013: The David Miller who is the batsman played of the innings of the tournament in the 51st match opposed the Royal Challengers Bangalore, as he smashed 101 off 38 deliveries and included eight fours and seven sixes. In the semi-final Virender Sehwag makes 122 runs against the Chennai Super Kings, KXIP made their way to the final, Kings XI Punjab were placed in group B along with the Barbados Tridents, Hobart Hurricanes, the cape cobras and the Northern Knights. By winning their third match of the competition against the Northern Knights and qualified for the semi-finals.
They excited to win their final group match opposed the cape cobras but were knocked out of the tournament at the semi-finals stage with a disappointing defeat against their IPL rivals the Chennai Super Kings and went onto win the tournament.
IPL Season 2015: In the IPL 2015 season, George Baily continued to lead the side. Out of the 14 games, the team won just three matches and ending eighth in the League. David Miller ended the season as top scorer with 357 runs and Anureet Singh ended the season as the top wicket-taker with 15 wickets.
IPL Season 2016: In the IPL 2016 season, David Miller and Murli Vijay Captained the team in the first and second half. The team ended eighth again with only four wins. The top scorer Murali Vijay has scored 453 runs and Sandeep Sharma was the top wicket-taker with 15 wickets.
IPL Season 2017: In the League, Virender Sehwag appended as head coach as the team looked to recover from the back0to-back the last place ends and Glenn Maxwell was joined as the captain. In the team, Darren Sammy, Eoin Morgan, and Hashima Amla joined the likes of David Miller.
In the Playoffs, the team missed out on a place by the last game defeat to the Rising Pune Supergiant and the finished the season fifth. Out of the fourteen games, they winning seven. Sandeep Sharma was the top wicket-taker with 17 wickets and Hashim Amla finished the season as top scorer with 420 runs including two centuries.
IPL Season 2018: In the IPL season of 2018, the Kings XI Punjab squad included internationals such as; Yuvraj Singh, Ravindran Ashwin, KL Rahul, Aaron Finch, and Chris Gayle. Ashwin was assigned as captain and Brad Hodge as a coach. Chris Gayle scored a fine century as Kings XI Punjab beat Sunrises Hyderabad by 15 runs, on 19 April 2018.
IPL Season 2019: The Franchise established the names of retained players for the 12th season of Indian Premier League they retained the following players for the 2019 season; Chris Gayle, Andrew Tye, KL Rahul, Ankit Rajpoot, Mayank Agarwal, Mujeeb UR Rahman, Karun Nair, Ravichandran Ashwin, and David Miller. On 18th December 2018 on the auction day, KXIP snapped up new 13 players Sam Curran, Varun Chakravarthy, Mohammed Shami, Prabhsimran Singh, Nicholas Pooran, Hardus Viljoen, Moises Henriques, Darshan Nalkande, Sarfaraz Khan, Agnivesh Ayachi, Arshdeep Singh, Harpreet Bear and Murunga Ashwin.
