IPL 2020 Match 4 RR vs CSK: Chennai Super Kings win the toss and elect to field against RR.
Sanju Samson starts with the bat although Rahul Tewatia picked up three wickets as Rajasthan Royals began their Dream11 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 campaign, along 16 runs win over Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on Tuesday at Sharjah.
Rajasthan Royals(RR) lost their first wicket early as Deepak Chahar did well to hold onto a catch on to his ball, to dismiss Yashasvi Jaiswal.
RR batsman Sanju Samson to join skipper Steve Smith in the middle and since his arrival, the runs just dive. First, it was Sam Curran for a four and six in the fifth over. After that, Sanju Samson hit Chahar for a six in the final over of the powerplay as RR crossed fifty.
CSK introduce Ravindra Jadeja into the attack and Samson hit two more sixes. Rajasthan Royals fired it up even further in the eighth over as Sanju Samson, who brought up his half-century in 19 balls, and hit three sixes and Smith hits 28 runs against Piyush Chawla’s first over.
RR brought up their hundred in the ninth over in the past once again targeting P Chawla in the next over and scoring 19 runs, RR touch 119 runs at the end of 10 overs. RR added 10 more runs in the next over.
Lungi Ngidi came to bowl on 12th over, provided CSK break the partnership as Samson, following his 32 balls 74 run spectacular, was grab in the deep by Chaha, in the same over Rajasthan Royals lost one more wicket as David Miller was run out, without adding any runs.
Meanwhile, Smith completed his half-century and got a reprieve in the 12th and 14th overs, respectively.
Chawla then takes his first wicket as Robin Uthappa got out in the 15th over, a fine catch at long-off from Faf du Plessis. Sam Curran then takes a two-wicket over to dismiss Rahul Tewatia and Riyan Parag in the 17th over before getting Smith out in the before last over.
While CSK were looking to restrict RR below 200 runs, Jofra Archer who scored 27 runs 8 balls, hit 4 sixes in the final over to take RR to 216/7.
Needing 217 runs to win, CSK needed an energetic opening stand and Murali Vijay and Shane Watson, despite being watchful in a few overs in the powerplay, crossing the team half-century in the first six overs.
Meanwhile, Rahul takes the wicket as Watson and broke his partnership in the seventh over after scoring 33 runs. Shreyas Gopal takes a wicket in the next over as Vijay perished for 21.
Although Sam Curran, who was promoted to score some quick runs, zoomed to 17 runs after 5 balls, Rahul Tewatia takes twice in the ninth over to dismiss Sam Curran and Ruturaj Gaikwad.
Kedar Jadhav hit three fours and CSK crossed the 100 run mark in the 12th over. But Jadhav got out in the 14th over as Sanju Samson holding onto a stunning one-handed catch off Tom Curran’s bowling.
CSK needs to go big and Faf du Plessis cut loose, hitting 3 sixes off Jaydev Unadkat’s 4th over and he crossed his fifty while pushing CSK nearby 160 runs at the end of the 17th over.
Faf du Plessis hit two more sixes but got out for 72 off Archer’s sharp bouncer at the end of the over of the match. MS Dhoni then hit three strong sixes in the final over to push CSK towards 200 runs, but RR who ended up on the winning side.
