The Chennai Super Kings are a Franchise cricket team which is based on Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is also known as CSK. The Chennai Super Kings plays in the Indian Premier League (IPL). It is founded in 2008, the team plays its home matches at the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. It gives a two-year suspension from the IPL starting July 2015 for the alleged involvement of their owners in the 2013 IPL batting case and won the title in its comeback season. Mahindra Singh Dhoni s the team captain of Chennai Super Kings and Stephen Fleming as its coach. Its home ground is M.A. Chidambaram stadium Chennai, its capacity is 50,000. Maharashtra cricket association stadium and Pune JSCA international stadium complex, Ranchi is its secondary home grounds and their capacities are 37,406 and 50,000. The Chennai Super Kings raised the IPL title three times in 2010, 2011 and 2018. They have the best win percentage included all teams.
They clap the records of most aspects in the playoffs and final of the IPL. They have also won the Champions League Twenty20 in addition 2010 and 1014. In 2019, its brand value is estimated at Rs732 crore. It is the second most valuable IPL Franchise after Mumbai Indians.
Background:
The Board of control for Cricket in India declared the initiation of the Indian Premier League, in September 2007. The Twenty20 competition to be started in 2008. The BCCI presents the owners of eight city-based Franchises in January 2008. The Indian cement was bought the Chennai Super Kings in $91 million. It is the fourth most expensive team in the league behind Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Bangalore. The Indian cement obtained the rights to the Franchise for 10 years. Earlier ICC chairman N. Srinivasan was the de-facto owner of the Chennai Super Kings, by means of his position as the vice-chairman and managing director of India cements ltd.
The Franchise was shifted to a Separate entity named Chennai Super Kings cricket ltd, after the Supreme Court of India struck down the continuous amendment to the BCCI constitutions that allowed board officials to have a commercial interest in the IPL and the Champions League T20 on 22 January 2015.
The current principle shirt sponsor is the Muthoot group, having signed a three-year deal in 2008. Its previous shirt sponsor Is Aircel, after they signed a three-year deal in 2008 which was then reopened in 2011 for rs850 million, then the most expensive scholarship deal in IPL. Super Kings also has sponsorship deals with Gulf oil, India Cements, Equitas small finance Bank, Nippon Paint, HIL, Atria Convergence technologies and parle agro Frooti.
